Focsle Down Under is a unique property with superb views from the sitting room over Porthmeor beach. We’ve stayed in St Ives many times in nice cottages but this one is special. The location to the town and beach couldn’t be better and the view is unbeatable, will definitely be booking again.
- Stunning views over the beach and the Island.
- Focsle is a comfortable home from home with a glorious view of Porthmeor Beach.
- The bathroom is beautifully finished, perfect for relaxing after a day of coastal exploring.
- We had a lovely holiday at The Focsle.
- As the Board members set up chairs for the meeting, there’s a cute bit of metatheatre when Suzanne mentions that one of the past school parents was a clown.

My third and final recommendation if you like a bit of cool music and Japanese food is the Notios Restaurant at the Almyra Hotel. The journey, whilst a bit bumpy, is absolutely worth it! You can only dine here at lunchtime and there is a set menu which is made up of barbeque, salad and the most incredible homemade chips ever! We went slightly off the beaten track to explore the quieter ones, and we were the only people there. We accidently came across a beautiful waterfall, the Caledonia Waterfall is a short 5km walk and just stunning and very refreshing too! So for four days we hired a jeep and got out to explore the island in more detail.
Soho House Manchester: Everything you need to know
Our little girl adored her stay here and we will definitely be back! Spacious, light, cosy and well-equipped, it’s a joy to stay here. It was very comfortable and warm, which is what you want in November. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Focsle Down Under. Warm cosy and welcoming property, felt at home at once. Loved watching the seals every day and the surfers.
We need to bring a pair of binoculars for whale and dolphin watching next time. Comfortable and well equipped house, peaceful and restful. It was very difficult to leave that view at the end of the week. The property itself is comfy, warm, roomy, and has everything needed to feel at home. The view from The Focsle is breathtaking.
Make yourself a pot of tea and sit in front of the beautiful views. Reserve your 2026 festive holiday for just £40! Or #microadventure being used as a catch-all online until the original purpose of the hashtag – to connect similar people looking for ideas and encouragement – is no longer possible. Maybe it’s a full moon walk up a hill without a torch, or cycling to the coast and sleeping in a bivvy bag. Microadventures mean different things and serve different purposes to different people at different times. Local microadventures are ideal, for example, but if you find yourself halfway round the world in Hong Kong or Hollywood then you can still apply the microadventure approach and explore there too.
- You can plan your beach days by checking our Porthmeor beach webcam.
- A really great location, and the house is comfortable and well equipped.
- And remember, if you’re using a sling or carrier, your baby will have that wonderful extra source of warmth – your body.
- Porthmeor is a surfer’s paradise, ideal for beginners to advanced alike.
- The other in-person attendees, seated too far away to read the comments, try to intervene but are shot down by hilarious non-sequiturs and cross-talk from people at home.
- Spector’s text is full of coerced capital letters hence the unusual capitalization in this review.
- Comfortable and well equipped house, peaceful and restful.
It’s all about growth
It has a pretty, tiled fireplace in deep sea blue, adding a splash of colour and like the rest of the house, the room retains its original 1930s doors and picture rails. The front bedroom has the same view as the living room, taking in Crystal Palace Tower. The double-glazed French doors open onto the garden, perfect for summer entertaining and notably, there is a downstairs loo, which will come in handy with all this entertaining you’re going to be doing!
Comments for Seven Years On: Recalibrating Microadventures
If your baby’s at the crawling stage, it can be wonderful to let them explore the snow for the first time. Rain covers for buggies and strollers are invaluable in winter – not only do they keep your baby nice and dry, but they also provide extra warmth. While walking is helping keep you warm, your baby isn’t getting the same benefit.
A really great location, and the house is comfortable and well equipped. This is such a lovely, warm and comfortable place to stay, in a fabulous location. We would love to stay again for future holidays. The Focsle is spacious and comfortable, and is guaranteed to provide a relaxing holiday for anyone. Perfect house in perfect location. Stunning views over the beach and the Island.

I’m a fan of the Nait 50, as are a lot of people on this forum. As you say, you have many other good things to occupy your time. By biggest grip for valves for audio is the sensitivity (through normal physics) to RF – and as such often benefit from valve screening – which was used more and more in sensitive commercial valve circuitry in its time. Annoys me when people try to score solid state v valve points. He explained that this is the point when a mare is moved to one of the 11 camera-monitored boxes, allowing the team to keep a close eye on her during our round-the-clock foaling vigils at this time of year.
Enjoyed off season holiday and surf watching. Lovely property, clean and comfortable and very spacious. Perfect location for swimming, surfing and body boarding. When you walk into the lounge every morning and see that view and hear those waves, you won’t want to move from your comfy seat by the balcony. Foc’sle Down Under is wonderful holiday accommodation, it is so lovely to sit watching the sea.
Wonderful property, best location ever. It was a privilege to stay at the house and we hope to come again. We stay in St Ives every Easter and this was our favourite house by a long way. With it’s Juliet Cutebit window onto the beach, you can sit and enjoy the spectacular sunsets each evening. We saw seals every day including a pup that came up on the beach right in front of us, looked about and then waddled back in…..
Otherwise it’s easy to go round a few houses and into the beach. The cupboard with all the beach stuff in was great (you can use the ladders to get from the gate down to the beach which was about a 5ft drop!). We had a lovely holiday at The Focsle.
